Sponsoring A Family with The INN

In November of 2016, Vanderbilt Financial Group became sponsors for a Long Island family whose home burned down in an electrical fire. The family, now staying in one the The INN’s shelters, is made up of a single mother and her two sons (aged 17 and 9) and 3 year old daughter.

The family lost everything in the fire so their list of needs ranged from socks, to school uniforms, to winter coats. The Vanderbilt headquarters quickly became a donation center attracting brand new items from the families wish list as well as a whole host of lightly used donations for the rest of The INN organization especially business attire for their Center for Transformative Change.

Pictured above is our (thanks) Giving Tree – each leaf represents a specific need. Participants would select leaves with the goal is to have a leafless tree meaning all the donations on the list were taken care of.

The whole Vanderbilt Headquarters pitched in to fill the family’s needs. Countless clothes items, toys, and necessities poured in, in addition to 8 bags of professional clothing intending for The INN’s Center for Transformative Change.
We’d like to thank the whole Vanderbilt team for participating and being so thoughtful to help this family get back on their feet.
