John Brower Jr. Foundation Walk

In the summer of 2015 two Vanderbilt Advisors and father and son, John and Robert Brower, came to CEO Steve Distante asking for help creating a foundation to memorialize their son John Brower Jr. and to educate the public about the epidemic of opiate abuse. In just a few short months, Vanderbilt Financial Group was able to help facilitate the creation of The John Brower Jr. Foundation and support their first event in October, a 5k Walk at Jones Beach benefitting the Outreach Program. The walk was a huge success drawing nearly 400 walkers and raising over $38,106, nearly quadrupling their initial goal.

Many members of the Vanderbilt family supported the foundation by making donations and joining in the walk. The Brower Family’s first event was a huge success validating the need for a program like theirs. We are proud to consider the Foundation part of our family and excited to watch as they grow to spread awareness and help the community in the future.
